Introducing you COPY

Fri May 31, 2013, 12:57 AM

Introducing you COPY, Dropbox's direct competitor.

It's technically the same as Dropbox, but offers much more space at an initial 15gb of cloud space FREE.

So click this [link] and it'll take you through my referral to the page.

Why through my referral?
Because when you sign up you get 15GB cloud space free.
But through a referrer's link, once you verify your email and then download & install either the Copy app or program, like dropbox, we both get additional 5GB on top of that.
Now, that's fun and most important more space for free! :)

Then after that you can introduce it to all your friends for similar results and you can rack up tons of 5GB per referral.

In case you missed the link, click this [link]

*edit*

Just to push up and let more people know about this! :D

By the way, I have quite a number of users who registered BUT have not install the app/program on their phone or computer, that means it's not a full process, and you won't get the extra 5gb of space free.
Do remember to do it soon! :D

Major update 20-05-2013

Mon May 20, 2013, 9:13 AM

Major update and probably wall of text, but with links to full cosplay photosets in high quality, life, worklife, and stuffs.
Do read on if you are still interested! :D

Life

I will be going for a short trip to Sydney on 24-28 May, to visit my partner and see Vivid Sydney again!
Last year Vivid's caught my attention (other than the crappy projection on Opera House), and this year seems to be on an even bigger scale!

Will be working with the following 2 awesome models/cosplayers during my short trip there too! (If only there is more time for more shoots!)

1) *Vera-Chimera

Always wanted to work with her since couple of years ago, love her cosplay of action/game characters, but didn't really had the chance/timing until this time round and some intro by *beethy (thanks dude!).
Will be having a portrait session with her, as her costume (LOL - Katarina) is not going to be ready during my time in Sydney.
A slight regret though, but hopefully the future trip will have a chance to shoot her cosplays!
But still can't wait to shoot her! :D

2) Kiara
First get to know of her cosplay through *shuichimeryl's shot of her Trinity Blood costume from last year Main Animania, and I saw some fashion shots of her on FB,
So I decided to have a chance to work with her, after knowing her through discussion, she is one real fun and one who really open to experiments (which photographer doesn't like a model who is open to experiment and fun at the same time?!).
Will be doing 2 shoots with her;
1) Meruru from Atelier Meruru
2) A wild or sexy alternative/artistic shoot, stlll pending our last discussions to finalize our ideas. But from our past discussions it's going to be real fun, crazy, and wild.
A shoot I have never done before, due to no caucasian model friends I know locally, able to go all out.
Even though we say we will just do our best and have fun, I do get nervous and afraid I can't get the results.
But on the overall, this will be a breakthrough shoot for me in regards of portrait genre.

The trip will be a very packed schedule, and I technically only have about 5d3n, as I arrive in Sydney in the afternoon, and going back to Singapore in the morning.
Much to my regret, don't think I will have time to catch up with old friends much for this trip...:(
Maybe I will do more trips to Sydney, as there is a budget airline "Scoot" which has really low fares for Sydney. (Range of $390-550SGD return fates, depends on dates)

Photography Equipment

Bought a few photography equipment in this few months:

1) Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED

One of the best AF ultra wide angle, can be use for almost anything IMO. Be it landscape, portrait, and concerts!
But probably have to use it with care when comes to portraits.

2) Voigtländer Color-Skopar 20mm f/3.5 SL II Aspherical

This is pancake manual focus lens, which I bought it mainly for the size and weight (206g), but the image quality and colors it produces as I have said at it's size and weight (and price) is really damn great!
A great lens to use for casual travel/street shots, when I don't feel like bringing the big lens out!

3) Gitzo GT2531

One of my dream tripod to own, and I finally got it! (More justifiable as of recent couple of years I started to do more landscape/cityscape)!
Though I need 2 more accessories for it to be the dream tripod setup. which are;
- Markins TH-200 baseplate (more stable and less vibration than default Gitzo ground set baseplate setup)
- Arca Swiss Z1 ballhead (one of the best, if not, the best ballhead)

4) Think Tank Streetwalker HardDrive

Always wanted to replace my full load travel camera bag, which is a Think Tank Airport Antidote v.2.
It fulfils most of my requirements, except for comfort. And with age number going up, and personal fitness going down, comfort is a huge factor I would like to have it,
Used my partner's Think Tank Streetwalker Pro, and I found it's comfort is really top notch, so after consideration I got the bigger brother with laptop compartment!

5) LEE Filters Neutral Density Graduated Filters 0.9 (3 stops) Soft

Bought this compliment my current 2 stops ND Grad, and Big Stopper, for better control for shooting landscape/cityscape.

Work Life

Last year and the early start of this year was one crappy part of my life.
I will say mainly due to my previous job, I was very stressed out due to direct supervisor who doesn't have the leadership and being a very difficult person.
In short, I was stressed out almost daily, probably my actions also affected my friends, no motivation or energy to plan or do photoshoots. Morale and happiness was at an all time low.
My salary was far away from proportionate for what I'm doing for that position (much more tasks and responsibilities compared to initial scope discussed).
Not that I don't welcome more responsibilities or tasks, but I believe in getting paid appropriately, and being treated as a proper human being, I will very much willing to do so.
So, I jumped ship when I have the chance this year.

Fast forward to current job, even though it's not exactly the field I would really want to do, but on the overall it's still counted under as project management.
Which in the long term, something I want to do as a career path.

Pros of current job: Good pay, being treated fairly, and at times can have a flexible timing.
Cons of current job: Might need to work on weekends/everyday if project schedule requires, be exposed to construction site environment (to a certain extent some health issues).

On the overall, I am feeling much better now, happiness and morale wise, hope I can learn more and gain more experience on the job!

Militiary Reservist

Sat Oct 27, 2012, 11:39 AM

I will be going to my first military reservist (upon completion of my National Servicve, or Conscription) from 29 October to 10 November (officially).
Though I really hope the training will end a day earlier on 9 November, so I can still go for both days of AFA, to meetup with my friends (local and overseas)!
As I'm  quite disappointed that I will pretty much miss the chance to watch TM Revolution, as he is performing on the night of 9 November.

Not sure whether I will be release home on a daily basis during the training, or only at the end of the reservist.

So I will be owning cosers some pics shot over the past couple of weeks:

Dynasty Warriors 7 - Left with *Meganelover
Final Fantasy 7: AC - ~Rainer-T

Tomorrow will be having a casual shoot with a Thai friend, Dream ~paradizekizz whom I knew online for a couple of years, and she is finally here (due to work)!
Can't wait for the portrait shoot in several hours time, and to bring her around some places of interest in Singapore.

Sneak peak on my December Hong Kong trip:
Currently on a planning stage to shoot with 3 of my favorite HK cosplayers! Really darn stoked for it, since my last trip to HK was 2 years ago, and I can't wait to see them! :D

A case of impersonation

Wed Oct 24, 2012, 6:06 AM

Was scolded (or informed if you might say) on Twitter few nights back, that I was stealing others' works and posting it on World Cosplay.

First thought that came to my mind was, "I only have a General Member account on World Cosplay, which you can't even post photos.", so how the hell am I able to post photos?
Secondly, and of course I don't steal people works.

Saw the link that person gave me on Twitter, and wow!
Someone is impersonating me on World Cosplay, stealing MY photos, and OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS photos, and posting those photos online USING MY NAME

The stealing part is already wrong, to me and the other artists.
But posting it USING my name, is blantanly trying to malign me for something I didn't do.

I have sent an enquiry to World Cosplay, explaining this issue, but till now I have not got back any replies.

So just to make it clear, I only have 1 account on World Cosplay (which is a General Member type, and can't post photos).
My account: [link]

The person impersonating me (fake account): [link]

Hope this explains things, or someone is able to help me with this issue, will be greatly appreciated!

I HAZ a new camera!

Sun Sep 30, 2012, 3:08 AM

Been pretty burn out (of not doing any photography or creativity related) due to work, and doesn't have a camera for several weeks.

BUT I just bought the camera yesterday, a Nikon D800!

So trying to schedule some shoots for the month of October, and in discussion for the last couple of months of this year!
Stay tune!

Music & Art

Mon Sep 10, 2012, 10:55 AM

Listening to Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera (Original 1986 London Cast) for a good relaxing night, hoping rain will come! :D

Anyways, just to recommend a great fashion/portrait artist that I like recently,  Alexi Lubomirski!
You can check out the editorials he shot over here: [link]

But the editorial that I first chanced upon his works, is the darn pretty, ethereal shoot with the awesome Karlie Kloss for Vogue Germany December 2011.

Life update:

Anyways as usual being very busy with life, and adapting to my new job which I have started working since 3 months ago.
I will say it's a pretty challenging and fast pace, so that's one of the main reasons I have lesser time to do anything photography related, or even update/reply on deviantART.

Very fortunate to have *shuichimeryl to help me out with part of the post-processing (the tedious ones) for the Batman series cosplay photos.

---

Shoots/Cons status update:

25th Aug - Did a Loki photoshoot with ~yinami. hopefully will process the photos out by this week, please stay tune!

26th Aug - ICDS 2012 - If you guys have been following my recent photos uploads, I'm very honored and happy to have a chance to work with *yayacosplay for a short shoot during the ICDS Convention in Singapore.
She is really one of the most professional cosplayer I have ever worked with, in terms of poses, costume, character profile, attitude, and a very friendly person to boot! :D
Definitely hope to have a chance to work with her again for a proper shoot in future!

*Latest photo* Batman Villains, also first time shooting with Violet and Orvis cosplaying as Penguin and Joker respectively, joined in the mini shoot with *yayacosplay!

1st Sep - SGTCC 2012 - Went to the convention, but didn't take much photos, as I was not feeling well, and I didn't went for day 2 either.
But nevertheless, did managed to catch up with some friends during my time there on day 1!

Most likely won't be going for TGX 2012 for this upcoming weekend.

---

Misc:

Halfway through selling my Canon equipment, and changing back to Nikon.
Since I can proudly say I have used pro level body/lens from both Canon and Nikon, I very much still prefer Nikon.
I know equipment is just a tool to take photos, but I very much still prefer Nikon.

Probably once a Nikonian, always a Nikonian.

Still left this few items to sell off:
Canon 1D Mark 4
Canon 35mm f/1.4L
Canon 85mm f/1.2L II

And looking to buy the following Nikon equipment:

1) Nikon D800E
2) AF-S 24mm f/1.4
3) AF-S 50mm f/1.4
4) AF-S 85mm f/1.4
5) AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8
6) AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8
7) AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II

1-5 will be the direct replacement, 6-7 will be more of a no rush, save up and buy kind of approach.
Anyways I pretty much pre-owned/use the above Nikon stuffs before, other than the D800E (which wasn't produced back then).

Important Notice

Wed Jul 4, 2012, 10:27 AM

Currently I'm very very busy, it's not that I do not want to reply private notes, emails, comments, etc.
Just to make an official notice here, but I really have a major lack of time, so do spare me some time meanwhile to clear my stuffs first.

Time used nowadays:

Every weekdays
Work + Traveling = 7am-7pm
Dinner + Bath + Editing + Upload Photos + Recreation = 7pm-1am
Sleep = 1am-7am

Weekends
Last weekend (Fri-Sun) = 3 days of Baybeats music festival
This weekend (Fri) = Ignite music festival
This weekend (Sat-Sun) = 2 days of Cosfest convention

In short, this few weeks, basically I have not even a free day to even process photos, I can only rush to chug out photos at night after work.
I still have like several shoots that I did not post/update from Australia, Malaysia, and local (Singapore).

But I prioritize processing photos on photojournalism (concert/sports), as there won't be much value if I post those photos after more than a day.

Recovery

Thu Jun 21, 2012, 10:35 AM

Just been busy with life, work, and games.
Quite lack of inspiration for photography recently, and also feeling a bit of "burned-out" due to various reasons.
Probably the same stuffs most artists will go through some part of their life, the "slump".

So would probably take a break, photos and updating of my DA journal might be slow.
But I promise to come back better than ever after this break! :D

Vivid Sydney 2012 (Videos + Photos)!

Sun Jun 3, 2012, 12:27 AM

First time experiencing Vivid Sydney, and boy it was an eye-opener!
The light installations, art, music, and creative ideas!

There are lots that I've seen and want to share, but I have not got to time to edit the photos yet.
So in the meantime, I will share with you guys the 2 light installation (major scale) that I really love from the whole of Vivid Sydney 2012!
Photos and full length HD videos of the 3D animation and original soundtrack!

The videos took me tons of time and retakes (3 nights and many hours), to get a decent take.
One with minimal crowd chattering, movement, and blocking.
Hope you guys will enjoy watching this 2 awesome animation, and share the love if you like what you watched! :D
